Selena Gomez vs. Kidd Kraddick

On Monday, we told you about this mess involving Selena Gomez, who was upset about something said about her mother during the Kidd Kraddick in the Morning Show, which did make some satirical remarks about her mother's pregnancy (in the context of satirizing what tabloids might say about the pregnancy). Somehow, somewhere along the line, that got blown up into Kraddick's saying -- which he did not say -- that he wished ... oh, I'm not gonna repeat it, it will just get misinterpreted again.

Here's Kraddick and his cast talking about the bit on Tuesday's morning show, as well as some of the reaction to it, courtesy of Kraddick's Facebook page. Key moments: Kraddick apologizes to Gomez's family for what he did say, and says he received 26,000 tweets on Monday.

Things haven't died down yet, though, as you can see from this Crushable post. Actually, the most telling part is on the second screen of the post, which featues a few death-threat tweets from fans of Gomez and Justin Bieber, whom she's dating. There's more on Kraddick's Twitter feed. Not only is that an extreme reaction, it's, um, you know, traceable to the source.

Gomez has every right to be upset about what was said on the show, and she did delete her initial tweet ("Kidd I used to look up to you.. Talk about me all you want but my mom or my family is crossing the line"). But she needs to step up and tell her fans to back off the death threats. Joking about someone's mother may be over the line, but threatening someone's life is worse. And Gomez has the most powerful voice in this and can put a stop to it.
