Selena Gomez Says 'Spring Breakers' Role Is 'Raw'

Selena Gomez is poised for a big 2012. After wrapping up a year that left the teen superstar "humbled," shes readying several important roles for the new year. Shell become a big sister (an announcement she made on Twitter over Thanksgiving weekend), and shell also hit the set for her film "Spring Breakers."

So far, Selenas work has been more in the world of tween-friendly comedies, but Spring Breakers will deviate from that winning formula. Directed by Harmony Korine (the man behind the super-dark, '90s classic, Kids), the film will revolve around a group of college girls who rob a restaurant to pay for their spring break. When they land in jail, a drug and arms dealer bails them out, and they quickly become entangled with him. Yeah, this isnt Monte Carlo. James Franco, Vanessa Hudgens and Emma Roberts are also attached to the project.

Right now we are wrapping up this year, and then beginning of next year I will be starting my new movie called Spring Breakers, she told MTV News. Im really, really excited about it.

We have to say theres a lot to be excited about. "Its a different character than I have ever played before, she said. Its a different kind of vibe I think than people are used to seeing me in. What youre going to see is more raw, I think. Its going to be raw and more about acting.

Given the movies plot, we suggest that Selena wait a while before she allows her little brother or sister to check it out.
