Selena Gomez Gets In On 'Fifty Shades of Grey' Craze

Unless you've been living under a rock on the surface of the moon, you've probably heard about a little novel called "Fifty Shades of Grey," which is causing a quite a stir. Originally written as "Twilight" fan fiction, the book follows the erotic, kinky tales of tycoon Christian Grey and college student Ana Steele. Since its release, "Fifty Shades" has become a No. 1 New York Times best seller and celebrities have caught on to the craze.

First, it was Ian Somerhalder and Brooklyn Decker, then it was Kristen Stewart and her "Snow White" co-stars, and now it's Selena Gomez. From reading scripts for Disney Channel to taking in a sadomasochistic love affair, she sure has come a long way!

Selena's beginning to shed the squeaky clean image she earned as the star of "Wizards of Waverly Place." Her first step in that direction was landing a part in Harmony Korine's "Spring Breakers," a film following four girls who rob a restaurant to fund their spring break trip and get involved in a murder plot.

"I was getting kind of repetitive in terms of the roles I was picking, and I really wanted to do something that was completely different," the starlet told Interview magazine about the role. "It was a mark thing for melike, 'This is what I want to be doing.' I want to be taking myself seriously as an actress, and this was definitely a stretch. I mean, I'd never smoked a cigarette before in my entire life. It was really funnythey had to show me ! how to d o it."
