Kristen Stewart, Selena Gomez, and More Celebs Read Fifty Shades of Grey
"Fifty Shades of Grey" seems to be the hottest book in Hollywood right now -- celebs like Selena Gomez and Kristen Stewart have been caught reading the naughty novel about a BDSM relationship.
Since the book is based on erotic "Twilight" fanfiction, it was only a matter of time before someone got Kristen to read a few excerpts from it. But Josh Horowitz of MTV didn't just convince Kristen to read a few passages out loud - her "Snow White and the Huntsman" costars Charlize Theron, Sam Claflin, and Chris Hemsworth also tried to get through a few lines without cracking up.
K-Stew's reaction to the book was priceless - she seemed more disgusted with the words "My inner goddess roars" than she was with any of the sex stuff. She also doesn't seem to be that big of a fan of "Fifty Shades of Grey" since people who read it gross her out. Here's what she said about noticing other people reading the novel: "I see people reading this on airplanes and I'm always like, 'Ew! Take that blanket off your lap, you freak.'"
Charlize actually did an excellent job reading the book out loud, but she seems to be more of a dominant than a submissive like Anastasia Steele since she started manhandling poor Horowitz while she read. Prince Charming Sam Claflin's reading was actually kind of charming - he makes dirty sex sound rather eloquent. Chris didn't do as well since he tried to read too fast and couldn't make it through very many lines. However, he did admit that the reading made him all hot and sweaty, and even said that he'd star in the movie based on the novel.
But the hunky huntsman is going to have a little competition in the form of "The Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder. Chris was just joking about playing Christian Grey, but Ian is dead serious abou! t leavin g his undead character behind for the billionaire businessman's "Red Room of Pain." He's actually read "Fifty Shades of Grey" and admits that some of the "S&M" scenes made him blush, but he thinks that he would be perfect for the movie since he has experience seducing younger women - his 170-plus-years-old vampire Damon falls for 18-year-old Elena on "The Vampire Diaries."
So while Ian has a solid shot at playing Christian, who will play Anastasia Steele, the college student that he seduces? Perhaps Selena Gomez will consider auditioning for the role - she did recently share a photo of herself reading "Fifty Shades." But she was probably just pretending to read it since the photo turned out to be a shot from her Funny or Die video spoof "Fifty Shades of Blue."
In the vid Selena shows the dangerous effect that reading "Fifty Shades of Grey" can have on a girl's mind. Her character is reading the novel when a painter named Carl Blue (comedian Nick Kroll) shows up at her door - he's got a gut and some scary-looking pustules on his face, but Selena's character immediately starts lusting for him. She chews on paint swatches; mistakes caulk for something kinky; and creeps out the creepy painter by chewing on her lower lip. Sadly things don't work out between them, and all she's left with is the blue paint on her wall.
Comedian Gilbert Gottfried also spoofed "Fifty Shades," but all he had to do to make it hilarious was read some of the book's NSFW lines in his distinctive voice. If he recorded an audio version of the book, it would definitely have to ! be recla ssified as comedy.
Not all celebs have embraced "Fifty Shades of Grey." "Battleship" star/supermodel Brooklyn Decker tried reading the novel, but apparently talk about "butt clamps" proved to be just a little too much for her. She deemed the book "really inappropriate" and just couldn't finish reading it. Perhaps she should have given her copy to her "Battleship" costar Rihanna - it seems like it would be the singer's cup of tea since one of her songs is actually titled "S&M."
So have you survived reading "Fifty Shades?"
