Selena Gomezs new album influenced by Taylor Swift and Skrillex

When speaking about her upcoming album, Selena Gomez noted she has been inspired by artists such as Taylor Swift and Skrillex.

Earlier in the year, Gomez had taken a break from singing to concentrate on her film career.

Now, she is ready to continue creating music, and is excited to share a different side of herself with her fans.

When MTV questioned what new material her album will contain in June, Gomez replied, "Just experiences. I'm going to be able to talk about things that I've never really talked about before, just because the last records have been really rushed, so I'm just excited to be able to take my time with it."

MTV also caught up with Selena Gomez before she performed at the UNICEF benefit concert in New York City this past Saturday. There, she revealed two sources who have contributed to her new sound: Taylor Swift and Skrillex.

"Taylor inspires me not even in music, just in everything that she does," Gomez said. "She's such an incredible person."

"Skrillex was a big inspiration because he did the score of Spring Breakers, so being a part of that and meeting him and watching Spring Breakers a thousand times through festivals and stuff, you kinda get hooked on it. So I was like, 'I should kind of add a little bit of that in there.' "

Unfortunately, Skrillex was busy doing his own thing so the pair was unable to collaborate on her album.

Gomez has her first single off the album due out in March.
