Selena Gomez to play rock 'n' roll chick in new film
The 20-year-old singer-and-actress is to star alongside Nat Wolff in indie movie 'Parental Guidance Suggested', which will see her portray Nina Pennington, the love interest of 16-year-old Ric Thibault (Nat) in a movie based on Ric Browde's 2000 novel 'While I'm Dead Feed the Dog'.
Tim Garrick has penned the script for the movie and will direct, with 'Secret Life of American Teenager' star Austin Stowell in line to play Nina's overbearing boyfriend.
Dylan McDermott and Cary Elwes are also set to star in the motion picture, which is due to be shot in Los Angeles.
Selena's latest film role sees her star alongside Vanessa Hudgens in 'Spring Breakers', and the brunette beauty recently revealed she is giving her music career a rest in order to concentrate on acting.
She said: "I'm just kind of halting music for a bit. [I've] been really focused on more acting.
"For me it's been fun to take risks and do things that are completely different. To be honest, maybe some of you guys might not be comfortable with it ... I'm still the same person. Things that challenge me really excite me."
