Selena: 'I Understand Why Beliebers Hate Me'

Selena Gomez has claimed that she understands why fans of her boyfriend Justin Bieber might hate her.

The 19-year-old actress and singer has been the subject of jealous and angry comments from 17-year-old Justin's more enthusiastic "Beliebers" - and she even had death threats when their relationship first became public knowledge.

But when asked about the reaction she got from his fans, she told Baltimore radio station Z104.3 that she took it in her stride.

She said: "It's a little odd, but I understand it completely. It's amazing to me to see how many passionate fans there are. So obviously, you've just got to think of the fans first, and that's okay."

And asked if she thought it was a shame she couldn't have the same fans as him, she replied: "Kind of, but its kind of cool that we have our own individual [fans]."

Selena has previously said that she tries to avoid negative comments about herself by not looking at magazines or the internet.
