Selena Gomez to star in The Sky Is Everywhere
Selena Gomez is to produce and star in new film The Sky Is Everywhere.
The 19-year-old made famous by portraying Alex Russo in Emmy Award-winning Disney Channel television series Wizards of Waverly Place has taken out an option on the Jandy Nelson book of the same via July Moon, her production company.
Gomez will play lead character Lennie Walker, who is a timid teenager whose life is left in turmoil when her much-loved older sister, Bailey, dies.
The novels synopsis is available at Amazon.com and reads: Lennie plays second clarinet in the school orchestra and has always happily been second fiddle to her charismatic older sister, Bailey.
Then Bailey dies suddenly, and Lennie is left at sea without her anchor. Overcome by emotion, Lennie soon finds herself torn between two boys: Baileys boyfriend, Toby, and Joe, the charming and musically gifted new boy in town.
While Toby cant see her without seeing Bailey and Joe sees her only for herself, each offers Lennie something she desperately needs.
But, ultimately, its up to Lennie to find her own way toward what she really needs without Bailey.
Gomez last year shot her last show for Wizards of Waverly Place which ran for 106 episodes from October 12 of 2007 to January 6 this year stating that she aims to now concentrate on films, at least for the foreseeable future.
The singer and actress said: My TV show filmed its last episode last year, so I would love to do a little bit more film work because I havent done that much of it so far. So I think thats the direction I want to go in next.
