Selena Gomez says she 'wasted' year with ex

SELENA Gomez believes she "completely wasted" a year of her life on an ex-boyfriend but she hasn't revealed which one.

While she doesn't name names, the young star is presumably talking about one of her famous exes -- either Twilight hunk Taylor Lautner or singer Nick Jonas.

The Love You Like a Love Song singer, who is currently agog over boyfriend Justin Bieber, tells Cosmopolitan magazine she felt stifled in a former relationship.

She shares that she detested having to sneak around and keep the relationship a secret from the press.

"I was in a relationship previously where I had to hide everything and it wasn't my choice," Gomez tells the magazine.

"I had to go through different exits and take separate cars and do the craziest things, and it just really wasn't worth it. It was like a year of my life completely wasted."

Gomez says that she loves going on dates with Bieber, be they low-key ones like a breakfast at the International House of Pancakes or more over-the-top ones like when Bieber rented out the Staples Center to watch Titanic.

"I'm just like every 19-year-old girl," says Gomez. "If you're in love, you're in love to the fullest, and you just want to go to the movies, hang out, and be as normal as possible. I'm fortunate that I've found someone who has that philosophy."

Gomez has just wrapped her series, Wizards of Waverly Place, after five years and has graduated from the cover of Seventeen and Teen Vogue to decidedly adult magazine Cosmopolitan.

Coverlines on Gomez's issue read "50 Sex Tips" and "Your Orgasm Guaranteed."

Gomez tells the magazine she is "gradually working toward becoming more confident in being a woman."
