Selena Gomez Granted Restraining Order Following Death Threat

Actress-singer Selena Gomez has been granted a temporary restraining order against a man who allegedly told his therapist that he wanted to kill her.

Gomez reportedly said in court papers requesting the order that she does not know Thomas Brodnicki but was told that "he has had conversations with God in which he was thinking about killing me."

The request from the former Wizards of Waverly Place star was filed Oct. 13. She said in a sworn declaration that she is in "extreme fear" of the man, who has been ordered to stay 100 feet away from Gomez, her mother, stepfather and assistant.

Brodnicki has a history of mental illness. State police were notified of the threat by mental health workers who were treating the 46-year-old man while he was in psychiatric hold, notes the Associated Press.

Gomez is currently on tour with her band in Canada before she travels to Northern Ireland in November to host the MTV Europe Music Awards in Belfast. She is the show's youngest host ever.
