Gomez, 20, was photographed with an unknown man at a post-Grammy Party at the Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood on February 10. While the photo is making numerous headlines, E! Online reports that the man is simply her old friend Alfredo Flores.
"He's just a friend," the outlet quoted an unnamed source as saying. "She's known him since before dating Justin."
The photo appeared on a number of websites, and shows the actress arm-in-arm with Flores, who is a mutual friend of she and Bieber (See photo). The pair have also been photographed together in the past.
While rumors of a potential Bieber and Gomez reunion have been making headlines for weeks, in January, Gomez sang a cover of Justin Timberlake's breakup song "Cry Me a River! " at a co! ncert, and told the crowd that the song "definitely spoke to her."
In November 2012, it was initially reported that Gomez and Bieber had split up after nearly two years of dating.
A source close to the couple told ABC News that the couple broke up, noting that their busy schedules made it hard to maintain a relationship. Gomez and Bieber and their respective reps had no immediate comments on the rumors at the time.
Rumors of a split began earlier that month and became fan fodder after 18-year-old Bieber was seen spending time with Victoria's Secret model Barbara Palvin, 19. The pair were seen with friends attending "The Lion King" on Broadway and also appeared in two photos together, which were posted online.
Palvin denied she was dating Bieber, Tweeting on November 9, "hey everyone. please calm down. he is all yours!! :) please."
Gomez, and Bieber, 18, first sparked dating rumors in December 2010, when they were photographed at an IHOP in Philadelphia. The following month, in January 2011, the two were photographed kissing and getting grabby in St. Lucia, where they rang in the New Year. After the pictures surfaced online, Gomez received death threats.
Bieber recently made headlines for engaging in a feud with The Black Keys drummer, Patrick Carney, following comments the musician made following the Grammys concert.
"Justin Bieber? He's rich, right?" the drummer told TMZ. "I mean, I dunno. Grammys are for like, for music, not for money and he's making ... money. I dunno. He should be happy, I guess."
Bieber, one of the most popular singers in the world, issued a response on Twitter on Monday morning, saying: "The black keys drummer should be slapped around haha."
Carney reTweeted Bieber's message, adding: ":(."
