Selena Gomez Talks Living Life In The Spotlight: 'People Don't Realise How Hard It Is'

It's a tough world out there, especially if you are one of Hollywood's biggest stars...and someone that knows all about living life in the spotlight is Disney star Selena Gomez, who has said that 'people don't realise how tough stardom is'.

Practically every move that Selena makes is watched by the media and her loved-up relationship with Justin Bieber definitely isn't one to keep on the down low, but the Disney star insists that despite her tough lifestyle, she 'does everything for her fans'.

In an interview posted by The Insider, "I do everything for my fans. I do my clothing line, my fragrance, my TV show, my music everything is based on them, what they're going to love, and their opinion means everything to me," says Selena, who says she's chosen to take a bit of a break from the music world to concentrate on acting.

Adding, "I guess this year was supposed to be more discreet than it actually was."

"I just dont think that people realize how hard it is," says the star, talking about living life in the spotlight.

"I mean, you're always doing something wrong. I have a great family, I have a wonderful mom, I have great friends that keep me grounded that I've had for years, and I think that's where it starts a support system. But it's so easy to get caught up in this. If I read everything online about myself it would put me in a state of depression."

And despite her former squeaky clean image, the star is now taking a step into edgier and different roles, saying she "will be scrutinized, but I'm proud of it."

Meanwhile, it seems that Biebs is also loving his girlfriend's new image, telling Oprah Winfrey in a recent! interview that he 'would never want Selena to feel like he's ashamed of her'.

Its fair to say that the couple can whip a media frenzy before theyve even sat down in a restaurant, but Justin says he wont be making any getaways on his own.

"Sometimes we gotta take the back exits and do different things, but I never make her separate from me cause I don't want her to feel like I'm ashamed of her, he said.

"I feel like a lot of guys do that - especially in the business. They don't want to be seen with their girl so they'll make them ride in separate cars and do all that 'getaway' stuff. When we get away , we're getting away together."
